VAMPS PRESENTS

GODSPELL

One of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time, “Godspell”, is coming to the St Neots Priory Centre next month. With a rocking score by Stephen Schwartz, the Grammy® and Academy Award®-winning composer of “Wicked”,the show promises to be another spectacular hit for local theatre society VAMPS.

The show will run at the Priory Centre 23 – 26 May at 7.30 pm, plus 2.30 pm Saturday matinee.  Tickets cost £7.50, Wednesday night, and £10.50 (£8.50 concessions) Thursday – Saturday performances and can be booked via the VAMPS’s website www.thevamps.org or phone their box office 07866-224769.  A small number of tickets are also available from the Priory Centre’s box office tel 01480-388922.

If you love good music, then this is the show for you as Barry Steele presents his all live spectacular Multi Media Tribute to The Big O,  featuring classic Orbison hits from the 60’s right through to the Late 80’s when Roy joined a band of men, who called themselves The Traveling Wilbury’s.

 Using  both Original and film footage from the era, and backed by his fabulous 5 piece band, Barry Steele will bring the life and  character of Roy Orbison back to the centre stage, where it truly belongs, as he puts  the rock back into The Big O, with his trademark dark rimmed glasses, soaring vocals and Orbison style.

 Add to the mix the sounds of The Shadows, Ray Charles and our special star guests Peter Jackson as Johnny  Cash, and Boogie Williams as Jerry Lee Lewis,  you have yourself a spectacular fusion of good old “Rock n Roll” and contemporary musical genius all on one stage.

St Neots Players Presents – Calendar Girls

The much anticipated performance of this well loved story will be showing at the Priory Centre in September 2012.

‘When Annie Clarke’s husband John dies from leukaemia at an early age, her close friend Chris Harper, anxious to purchase a comfortable sofa for the visitors lounge in the hospital where he was treated, hits upon the idea of printing a calendar featuring some of the members of the Knapely chapter of the Women’s Institute discreetly posing nude while engaged in everyday activities such as baking and knitting, in order to raise funds’ …… this is the start of a truly moving, inspirational and humourous story.

St Neots Battle of the Bands

The Priory Centres Battle of the Bands competition held on Saturday 14^th April was a Great success. It attracted some of the best young talent in St Neots.

The show was very well supported and the final six bands put on a great evening’s entertainment.

Each act was judged by three ably qualified individuals whose final decision went to the band – Gentlemen’s Club, a very unique sounding band with a very confident and charismatic front man.

Gentlemen’s Club won a recording session at St Neots local music studio, ‘cre8tive music studio’ who was the main sponsor of St Neots Battle of the Bands 2012, they have also been invited to appear on stage at the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Sunday 3^rd June.

Competition organiser Lisa Prestidge said: ‘the competition was great, we were amazed at the variety of talent that competed on the day, No two bands sounded the same. Gentlemen’s Club were deserved winners’ The Priory Centre aim to hold St Neots’ Battle of the Bands as an annual event.

St Neots has got Talent

The Priory Centre kicked off one of the many events of the forthcoming St Neots Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations with our very own talent show on Saturday 7^th April which attracted some of the best acts around.

The show was very well supported by over a hundred people who witnessed the final eleven acts put on a great afternoon’s entertainment. The acts were varied and ranged from solo singers to musicians and dancers to duets.

Compare George Kelly, a local amateur dramatics actor, did a fantastic job and kept everyone entertained with his relentless humour. Each act was judged by three ably qualified individuals whose final decision went to and Reece and Summer, a singing duet which form half of the very popular local band Black Ivy.

Talent show organiser Lisa Prestidge said: the show was a fantastic array of talent and highlighted the spirit of St Neots. We aim told hold St Neots’ Got Talent as an annual event.
